One of the leading ideas of this newsletter is to transmit not only the typical information about tango events and touristy places, but also to inform about local cultural activities that are many times difficult to be reached by foreign people. There exists in Buenos Aires a rich and diverse cultural movement in constant evolution, which goes far beyond from tango, even when it includes it. We think that exploring some of our culture’s expressions is another way of getting to know our city, our people and our artists. This is why this issue of the newsletter includes a wide variety of artistic exhibitions and musical concerts, which we hope to be of your interest.

On the other hand, we’re dedicating a special part of this bulletin to the event “La Gran Vía”, that takes place in Avenida de Mayo until May 18^th and in which a wide variety of shows and activities will be held. This constitutes a part of a government initiative towards revaluing this avenue, touristy and cultural center of our city. A selection of recommended tango shows held in this event can be found in the “Visits” section of this newsletter.

Once more, we appreciate any comments or suggestions you may have in order to improve future editions.

From May 1st and during a month the VI Tango Metropolitan Championship will take place. Once more it comes the time to compete dancing in the milongas porteñas. This championship is the previous instance to the World Tango Championship, that will be held in August and for which dancers from all over the world will arrive. The couples that win in the Metropolitan will later participate in the World Championship. In this sixth edition, moreover, a new category will enrich the competence: to the traditional “Tango” and “Milonga” the new “Vals” category will be added.
