My wife and I stayed at Caseron Porteno CP for about 10 days in April 2010. It was a great experience and enhanced our enjoyment of Buenos Aires. The nightly tango lessons were an added treat that led to a sense of comradery with the other guests. Lessons are given by biligual professionals who are skilled in teaching both advanced tango fans and absolute beginners. As a clumsy beginner, I was still taught how to tango around a dance floor without bumping into people and to do a variety of simple steps that enabled my wife and I to enjoy attending Milongas tango dance halls. The teachers arranged for the guests to attend special Milongas where the pros put on tango performances that outclassed any of the expensive tourist tango shows in BA. Altho tango was not at the top of our list of activities in BA, we found that it greatly enhanced our feeling for the city and made us feel more of a part of it. Aside from tango, CP is like having a home in BA. You have your own key to the front entrance, use of the frig and kitchen if you wish, use of a computor, a comfortable 2d floor common sitting room, and a charming garden. Breakfast is generous and cheerfully served by Maria who responds to almost any request with why not? Como no?. Daniel and his assistant Lucinda are fluent in English. Daniel gave great and detailed advice about our side trips to Colonia and to the Delta. We liked the location the opportunity to visit with fellow guests from the US, South America, Europe, and Japan and the feeling of being at home in one of the great cities of the world. We look forward to returning to Buenos Aires and to CP

I had the good fortune to spend two weeks at Caserón Porteño during April and May of 2010. Many thanks to Daniel, Cinthia, Lucía, María and Graciela for a very pleasant stay. The CP team greatly enhanced my first visit to Buenos Aires. CP is clean, comfortable and quiet with an inner courtyard that is perfect for relaxing after a day of sightseeing or a night of dancing. On surrounding streets you will find coffee shops, bakeries, restaurants, laundries, ice cream shops, a gym and stores for produce and groceries. CP is within an easy walk or very short cab ride to all that Palermo has to offer and access to downtown is convenient via taxi or SubTe. You can walk down Calle Maure through the beautiful Belgrano neighborhood and cross Av Luis M Campos into upscale Las Cañitas to enjoy twenty-five square blocks of shopping and dining. The CP guests add another great dimension. During my stay, there were visitors from Finland, Belgium, Australia, Japan, United States, Italy and Great Britain. It was a mix of single travelers, couples and small groups staying anywhere from a few days to several weeks and many were return guests at CP. The nightly Tango lessons were very well taught by various local instructors. If you have an interest in this beautiful dance, the CP team will help you get to the right milongas on the right nights for dancing and live music. Overall, Caserón Porteño is an excellent value and a great place to stay while visiting Buenos Aires.

I stayed at CP last spring at the recommendation of an Argentine friend and I have since shared this great find with other friends and colleagues. The staff was very professional and attentive. Maria and Cinthia les mando saludos desde Boston y un abrazo were extremely helpful lending reliable advice on transportation, safety, local sites, etc. CP is very well cared for and sits in a quiet neighborhood. I found everything I could possibly need nearby. It is also conveniently located to main bus lines and the metro. Tango lessons were an added bonus!

Every time I go to Buenos Aires I stay at Caseron Porteño. The staff is so warm, friendly, and helpful that when I arrived for the first time, alone and a little sacred, I felt welcome and right at home. I´ve enjoyed the daily tango classes which are high quality and the instructors are fun. If you´re interested in spanish lessons, ask for Demian and you´ll get a wonderful teacher! The lovely staff keeps the place impecably clean. The neighborhood is very pleasant with convenient access to the subway, restaurants, and markets. They provide breakfast and I appreciate having use of the kitchen for lunch and dinner. There´s WIFI but I don´t bother to carry a laptop because there´s a computer available. I always look forward to staying here and recommend it highly. Pam McKeen

My experience at CP was quite pleasing at various levels. In fact, CPs online description faithfully represents the place itself. It is a lively, clean and culturally vibrant guest house. Upon your arrival, you may even have a bellhop take your bags to your rooms. I found their staff to be helpful, resourceful and highly professional. The neighborhood offers a variety of convenient shops, markets, restaurants, etc. One minor thing to keep in mind, though, would be the guest house phone. You will need your own calling card, for the CP phone can only be used for making local, non-cell phone calls. If I were to rate it on a scale 1-5, I would give it 4.5. Enjoy, IS

My husband and I spent nearly two weeks at Caserón Porteño in January and now, in April, are no less enthused about our experience! In telling our friends about the guesthouse, we find ourselves describing it as the best place we’ve ever stayed. The location is great and the grounds and rooms are very well cared for…but moreso are the guests. Before we ever arrived, Cinthia and Lucia made us feel welcome and confident through phone calls and emails. Our every inquiry was responded to promptly and knowledgeably, enabling us to make the best of our first travel to Argentina. Upon our arrival, Daniel gave us a warm welcome and tour, and we began to feel “at home”. We had a great stay and met many friendly and interesting travelers. The homey, relaxed atmosphere and caring staff of Caserón Porteño surely bring out the best in everyone who stays there. Special thanks to Lucia who answered our every question so efficiently and to Maria who made us feel like part of the family, even getting up in the wee hours of the morning to accommodate our flight schedule. Caserón Porteño is the perfect place for either a short stay or a longer one. The dance lessons are so much fun, both for folks who are interested in experiencing tango for the first time or for those wanting to build their skill. One day, we plan to return to see more of the city and will certainly look to Caserón Porteño for a place to stay. In the meantime, we will remember each of our CP friends with genuine warmth and appreciation every time we think of Buenos Aires.

Thank you so much for the wonderful visit I had in Buenos Aires. Caseron Porteno was fabulous!! I have stayed in many similar places all over the world and this is now at the top of the list. No detail was overlooked from the warm welcome and complete tour upon arrival to the minute I left 15 days later in the taxi that was secured for me. The room was huge, spotless, and well appointed Comfy bed,thick towels,warm and bright. The staff was amazing from Marias breakfasts and help with all aspects of the visit to Cecilias fast and thorough cleaning and the amazing facial she gave to my gritty, wind battered face! Lucia and Daniel made an extra effort to juggle the room schedule and accomodate me for a longer visit than I iniially planned. I met wonderful people, felt safe and secure and pampered, and truly loved coming home after a long day in the city. In short, a perfect experience at an outstanding guesthouse. Caseron Porteno is the best place to stay, whether you are interested in tango, or not. For me, it was my first time traveling alone, it was my first time in a Spanish-speaking country, it was my first exposure to tango. For people who have traveled extensively alone, maybe they forget that first time feeling a little anxious or afraid. I mention this detail because it is an important fact to note that everything about Caseron Porteno made the transition for me not only possible, but thoroughly a delight. Everyone there is Castellano speaking, and Argentinian, and regardless of where the guest is from, the staff makes every guest feel like we are all from the same world. I felt lucky from the moment their cab picked me up at the airport, and the driver, Sergio was dependable, attentive, and caring. When I was greeted at the door with a tour from Chris, I felt lucky that Chris was happy to switch in and out of Spanish as I needed. He likes to greet every guest personally, and with care. When Maria, who may very well be the heart and soul of this bed breakfast, would speak with me at subsequent delicious little breakfasts, she too would switch in and out of Spanish and English as needed. Maria would always make me feel the most at home. And Cecelia, a gifted beautician who offers in-house facial treatments, was always able to chat in the halls and exchange stories of dancing in Buenos Aires. Lucia, fluently bi lingual, was always able to juggle a number of challenges at the same time, and help find solutions to questions about tours, flights, stores, tango --pretty much anything! Coming from the opposite hemisphere, visiting a place where I know no one, these small acts of kindness would come to mean the world to me. If a visitor wants, the staff quickly becomes an extended kind of family. The safety found in the neighborhood --where there are places to shop for food or snacks, places to do laundry, even a gym nearby, and taxis, busses, and subway right there, hair salon, pharmacy, and tango lessons and milongas within walking distance-- that safety in the neighborhood is matched by the environs of Caseron Porteno, where a beautiful garden invites you, two cats greet you, and the warmest people made me feel so at home, so far away from home. I know I sound like Ive been bribed, hypnotized, or Ive lost my mind, but I dare anyone to book a room at Caseron Porteno, and then tell me how I sound....I think you will love this place.

We really liked being out in the city, instead of in the city center, while retaining ready access to all of the city through cabs, busses, and the subte. Having in-house group tango lessons with Mario Eugenie and with Maya was very convenient, and they are excellent teachers. We enjoyed the relaxed environment of Caseron Porteno, meeting the variety of guests staying with you, most there for tango, and discussing teachers, milongas, shopping, etc. Thanks also for your repeated help with shopping, restaurants, and transportation suggestions. Finally, special thanks to Maria, who keeps everything on an even keel in the kitchen and elsewhere, 247 ! When I first made the arrangement to come to Buenos Aires, I had no idea of what to expect at a place I'd found online. My wildest expectations were surpassed. The hospitality and generosity of everyone at Caseron Porteno was amazing. I felt like I was at a home away from home and yet my privacy was respected at all times. The rooms were impeccably clean, the staff helpful,the kitchen lovely and the tango studio awesome. Mari is a treasure. I don't know. If I ever owned a bed and breakfast and wanted it to be perfect, I'd model it after Caseron Porteno and hire Mari. Amazing place and amazing people. Plus, the breakfast served was just perfect. Buenos Aires nos acogió con su encanto! en el caserón nos dieron el calor y la comodidad que necesitabamos para realizar el trabajo junto a "Tangueros del Norte". Eramos mas de veinte personas que estuvimos aquí, todos quedamos muy conformes con la estadia, si es posible volveremos a estar aquí la proxima vez que visitemos Buenos Aires. Por mi parte estoy muy contento de haber estado con todos los que son parte del caserón y con un gran sentimiento latino le doy las GRACIAS y recomiendo sin lugar a dudas el "caserón porteño" Nos veremos la proxima!!! Although I only stayed one night at Caseron Porteno, I really recommend it. It's quiet and restful and the house is wonderful... especially the open central courtyard. You'll definitely feel welcome. Downtown is only 10 or so minutes away from Belgrano too. Very highly recommended.

It was all the way back in October that I visited your lovely establishment, but the fabulous memories are strong as ever and will last me forever, I\'m sure! You are all--Cinthia, Daniel, Mari, and adorable Franco--the best hosts that this innocent and eager tanguera could ever have wanted. You responsed to every inquiry and request with cheerful enthusiasm. I felt great relief at everyone\'s obvious concern for my comfort and safety, and I was delighted at the knowledge and resources you utilized to make sure my tango adventures were as pleasant and stress-free as possible. And to all this you add the AMAZING value of tango lessons in a beautiful studio with an array of talented and generous instructors (I confess a special fondness for Mario & Eugenia, whom I recommend to all). I haven\'t even mentioned the beautiful courtyard, the great the neighborhood with numerous nearby conveniences, the short walk to the subway, but now I\'m sounding like a paid advertisement! 13 June 04: This time last year I was enjoying my second visit to the Caseron Porteno in a month. I was so impressed by Daniel and Cynthia\'s wonderfully warm hospitality and genuine concern for the wellbeing of their guests that I returned immdeiately after a short visit and promised myself to return again for longer periods of time. Daniel and Cynthia truly make one feel like family. Added to that one enjoys excellent instruction in tango, great cameraderie with the tango friends one meets at the Caseron and the charm of Buenos Aires itself. So how can you miss? Any time spent at the Caseron Porteno is a wonderful experience. I am hoping to return soon to continue my instruction and meet my new \"grandson\" Franco. Indeed, at the Caseron Porteno life is truly a \"milonga\".

I feel really blessed that for my first experience in Argentina, I was able to stay at Caseron Porteno. Cinthia and Daniel not only provided a beautiful, homey and comfortable environment, but were extremely helpful in assisting me with any sightseeing plans or traveling plans that I was in need of. The going away party that they arranged for a guest who had stayed with them for a couple of months was very thoughtful. I look forward to my return in a few months. I never considered staying anywhere else.

I can only agree to what has been said about this wonderful place. But what makes it so great are Cinthia, Daniel, Mari and Baby Franco. I was heartbroken leaving my "home" in Buenos Aires. Everything is just wonderful! They really make you feel part of their family! Caseron Porteno is one of a kind. If you are looking for a place to dance or not, you will have a great time.
